How to make a Tone-on-Tone Sweatshirt using our Arched Files

This New Trend is hot for 2025!  I just wanted to take the time to show you how these Super Cute Sweatshirts are made using our arched embroidery files.  I do have plans to set up a font like this in the future but for now I'll tell you how quick and simple they are to make using our files.  

You'll need two sweatshirts for this project. The second sweatshirt will be used as your applique fabric. It’s best to use the largest size you have so you’ll have more material to cut and use on other projects. Use the inside of the fabric faceup so it will give it a fuzzy cozy appearance.  You don’t have to use sweatshirt material, but that’s what most people use to achieve this look.  You could also use t-shirt scraps or fleece scraps. 

**It’s not recommended to use Heat and Bond Lite on the back of your fabric for this project. You really want the fabric to be distressed or frayed.

  • Step 1: Hoop your sweatshirt and place it on the machine. When using our arched embroidery files you will run the 1st “fabric placement” stitch.  This will show you where the fabric will be placed. 
  • Step 2: After you run the “fabric placement” stitch you will want to lay your sweatshirt material over these letters to use as your applique fabric. Making sure the inside of the material is facing up. You will need to advance your machine to the last step, which is step 4. Run this top bean stitch as your "fabric tack down" stitch. I like to use a contrasting thread like white, but any color will work. 

  • Step 3: Remove your sweatshirt from the machine and trim around each letter leaving about a 1/4 of an inch all the way around, if possible. It doesn’t have to be perfectly straight. This will have a distressed look to it.

And that’s it! Simple as that. This will give you a completely different look.  So get your samples ready.  Back to School is just around the corner.
